Creating accessible and equitable health care access for Giles County
residents who have limited access to health care due to low incomes and
lack of health insurance
G-NET, the Giles County Health Network, is a planning collaborative of several health-related nonprofit organizations serving Giles County. The focus of G-NET is creating accessible and equitable health care access for Giles County residents who have limited access to health care due to low incomes and lack of health insurance.
G-NET solidifies the integration and coordination of several health care provider organizations in the County. G-NET improves the capabilities of all Network members to deliver care to the most needy residents by providing a common eligibility criteria for charity care and Network Navigation services. G-NET achieves economies of scale by sharing staff, expertise and resources across Network members and increasing the financial capabilities of Network members using a collaborative, revenue-generating business model. An integral part of G-NET is Network Navigation to help patients find the appropriate services. The Network Navigator provides the community with a "one stop shop" for those who have health care needs. The Navigator helps direct residents to continuous, comprehensive and culturally appropriate health care.
In 2011, the Giles Community Health Center was awarded a U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration Rural Health Network Development Grant. This Network Development Grant facilitated the creation of G-NET.
On the heels of the launching of G-NET, in 2012 HRSA-ORHP awarded a second three-year Rural Health Outreach Grant to the Giles Community Health Center. This grant supports the development and delivery of non-emergency medical transportation to low income, uninsured residents of the County. The resulting transportation program is known as G-REACH.
Giles County, Virginia is a community of healthy and productive people, made possible through accessible and equitable essential health care services for residents of all ages, races, cultures, ethnicities, religions and income levels.
